France Swimming: Muffat beats the world record in the 400 meters freestyle

Camille Muffat, French swimmer , won the title of European Champion short course in 3 minutes and 54 seconds.

Camille Muffat became European champion in the 400 meters freestyle, beating 3 min 54 sec 85/100 world record distance in the final of Euro 2012 in the pelvis, Saturday at Chartres.

Olympic French champion, 23, born in Nice, distance has improved 7/100 world record, held since August 2009 by the British Joanne Jackson (3:54.92).

She edged Denmark’s Lotte Friis, second in 3 min 58 sec 85/100, and another French Coralie Balmy, European champion distance in 2008 and 2009, who finished third in 3 min 59 sec 80/100 .

France has now won six titles since the beginning of the Euro, after those Yannick Agnel (400 meter freestyle), Florent Manaudou (50-meter freestyle), Jeremy Stravius (50-meter backstroke), and 4×50 meters relay 4 strokes gentlemen and 4×50 meters medley mixed 4.
