International 2012 KHL schedule: Donbass Donetsk vs. Dinamo Minsk on saturday

Saturday’s KHL schedule features only one game, but that game includes NHL teammates on opposite sides of the puck.

Saturday’s KHL schedule only contains one game: Donbass Donetsk against Dinamo Minsk. With the NHL lockout showing no signs of letting up, plenty of players are lacing up their skates overseas, and Saturday will see a number of them in action, including teammates on opposite sides of the ice.

Alexei Ponikarovsky and Evander Kane are usually both wearing Winnipeg Jets sweaters, but on Saturday Ponikarovsky will skate for Donbass while Kane plays for Dinamo Minsk. Both left wingers, they should have plenty of opportunity to mix it up.

The game will also feature Calgary Flames defenseman Anton Babchuk and Philadelphia Flyers winger Ruslan Fedotenko playing for Donbass, while the Dinamo Minsk roster features the Nashville Predators’ Pekka Rinne in net, with the Minnesota Wild’s Niklas Backstrom backing him up.

Dinamo Minsk is the favorite in the matchup. The team leads the KHL with 64 points, while Donbass has struggled and only collected 35 points in the same number of games.
