AFCON CAMEROON 2021 Afcon 2013: Insight of the second match of the day Niger vs. DR Congo

Kick off: 20:00-18:00pm.

At          : Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium at Port Elizabeth.

                        Date      : 24/01/2013.

Niger rode their luck against Mali for much of the game in their opening game, wasting any half chance they got while Mali’s Seydou Keita was being denied by the goalpost, a block or their goalkeeper. The Niger goalkeeper looked uncomfortable with crosses into the box for the whole match, eventually a cross being his undoing, fumbling and spilling the ball right into the path of Keita who slotted in the late winner.

Niger might not have been as impressive as DR Congo in their opening match, look out for Talatou and Maazou, both players showed promising movement to get half chances to score against Mali. If Niger can find a way of improving their finishing, then anything can happen once a goal is scored.

DR Congo had a very impressive start to their Cup of Nations with a strong display of character against one of the tournament favourites Ghana, fighting back from a 2 goal deficit to earn a point. DR Congo’s fought back who was led through the midfielder Youssouf Mulumbu(West Bromwich Albion, English Premier League) who’s display earned him serious respect from the fans. He worked well with goal scorers Tresor Mputu(TP Mazembe, Linafoot) and striker Dieumerci Mbokani(Anderlecht, Belian Pro League), all great players to look out for in this match.
