Africa Egypt: 21 court verdict lead to 32 dead, over Port Said Stadium Violence

Following the story presented to you on Saturday, of the 74 people killed in a football clash between two clubs in Egypt between al-Masry and Al-Ahly, there has still been on-going roits for the past hours.

At least 32 people have been killed and over 300 injured in clashes over unpopular court verdict in the Egyptian City of Port Said.

On Saturday, the Judge in Cairo sentenced 21 people to death for their participation in a football riot in Port Said where 74 people lost their lives and 1, 000 injured.

The verdict from the Court which had sparked a clash between security forces and supporters of the defendants have resulted into riots, with people armed with weapons, attacking security forces, gun shots and throwing of stones at the security forces.

So far 32 people have been confirmed dead and 312 civilians and members of the security injured confirmed by officials speaking on condition of anonymity.

Supporters and protesters were angry that their own natives in Port Said were victims of the situation.

Meanwhile, before this morning 9 people were killed in Suez by clashes between protesters and security forces, which was the second anniversary of the beginning of the revolution that toppled former president Hosni Mubarak.

Police clashed with the protesters in Cairo, Alexandria, Suez, Port Said, Giza, Ismailia, Damietta, and Kafr el-Sheikh.
