Africa Transfer : Odemwingie’s move ends in farce

Peter Odemwingie was at the center of controversy as his deadline transfer date had become a bizarre when he faced a fine from West Brom after turning up at QPR without his club’s permission.

It was yet a drama when Odemwingie’s move appeared to fail, also missing out on Stoke City’s Peter Crouch, another of his targets up front. He is likely to be fined two weeks’ wages by West Brom, who said they were “extremely disappointed to witness TV footage of Odemwingie arriving at Loftus Road” when there was no agreement.

However, the club’s chairman, Jeremy Peace, accused the player of behaving and acting “wholly unprofessionally” and said: “He must now accept the fact he remains under contract for a further 18 month”. Peace called the whole episode “unsavoury”.
