AFCON CAMEROON 2021 2013 AFCON Ghana history maker Wakaso to be fined by Espanyol

Mubarak Wakaso, joint top-scorer of Africa’s top-flight football competition has missed two training sessions which has angered Coach Javier Aguirre and will be facing a huge fine from Spanish club Espanyol after failing to join the club five days after Africa Cup of Nations ended.

The Catalan club says they had expected Wakaso on Wednesday but he failed to show up. The development makes Wakaso, one of the most important players in his club, a serious doubt for Sunday’s league clash with Real Betis at Cornella.

With nothing to celebrate on the Ghanaian side as the Ghanaian footballer had ended his session in the 2013 AFCON on Saturday losing to Mali, Espanyol boss Aguire expected his early return to the team to come train for games ahead of them

Wakaso was expected to report for training on Wednesday morning but did not arrive by the end of Thursday’s training session. The reasons for his delay are unknown to the coach and the directors of the club.

However, unless Wakaso gives a reasonable excuse for his absence in training, he will not escape the financial sanction and will however be fined according to the clubs internal rules

Espanyol are currently 13th on the Spanish league table going into the 24th match of the season.

Due to this there are speculations by the Ghanaian media that Mubarak Wakaso could be flying for Spain on Friday afternoon to join his team-mates
