Africa Cricket: Irfan was bowl by South Africa in the 2nd Test at Cape Town

South Africa captain Graeme Smith took the unconventional decision at the toss, for the second Test in a row. After choosing to bat on a difficult track in Johannesburg, he opted to bowl on a Cape Town surface that was expected to ease out after the first hour.

One of the bright spots for Pakistan in a dreadful first Test was the bowling of Junaid Khan, who jagged the ball both ways to trouble the home side’s batsmen. He won’t be there in this match, though, as he is sidelined with a thigh injury. That opened the doors for a debut for seven-foot seamer Mohammad Irfan and also a comeback for Tanvir Ahmed after more than a year-and-a-half out of the side.

South Africa has a terrific record at Cape Town over the past couple of decades, having won 17 Tests and lost only three.
