A harsh red card was shown to Buyile Sali on Wednesday just eight minutes after the game in Cape Town, a decision which led players of the team netting three minutes after the incident.
However, Chippa United’s coach Wilfred Mugeyi believes the players sending off had everything to do with the 2 – 0 defeat to Kaizer Chiefs.
“I think we lost because of the red card,” he said after the midweek encounter.
“To lose a player against a team of the quality of Kaizer Chiefs is like committing suicide. But we still pushed forward and I think the boys did very well.”
“We were never going to sit back; this was a game we wanted to win.
“We kept on going forward but it was obvious that we needed to have a go at them to try and get something out of the game.
“Obviously that left us open to get punished which is what happened with Chiefs’ second goal,” he added:
Mugeyi , felt that the referee decision to send Buyile Sali off however decided the fate of the game leaving his side now with four points as a loss of their last five.
