Africa U20 AFCON : Gabon and DRC no goal (0-0)

No goal between Gabon and DR Congo for the second game in Group B of the U20 AFCON.

After some dull and real opportunities for both teams, Panthéreaux and Babies Leopards returned to the locker room without scoring a single goal.

Gabon has even finished the game at 10 after the expulsion of his captain Franck Engonga on a bad tackle.

Nigeria dominated ball possession and created more chances but Mali were efficient and defended in numbers. It was against the run of play in the 13th minute that striker Adama Niane scored a poacher’s goal from inside the Nigeria penalty box to give the Eaglets the lead. Mali took a corner and when the headed clearance fell kindly to Niane he cracked a ferocious left footer that beat all attempts by Nigerian defenders and goalkeeper to stop it crossing the goal line.

Mali opened their Group B account of the Orange CAF U-20 African Championship with a calculated 1-0 win over Nigeria
