For the first time in the history of the African basketball, West Africa, a woman is at the head of the very popular Zone 2. It is Senegal’s former captain of the Lioness Aya Pouye in the 1980s.
At the end of the Fiba Africa meeting held in Bamako on Saturday, Aya Pouye, member of the Senegalese Basketball Federation, was elected to manage the basketball in this area.

The new president of Zone 2, accusing a few weeks ago latter of trying to break his structure “around the former Senegalese female basketball players.”

Hence certainly also the fact that since her nomination, Aya Pouye who is expected in Dakar on Monday late afternoon received “many messages of congratulations.”
