Africa Olympiacos signs Nigerian Michael Olaitan

Greece Super League side Olympiacos Piraeus have completed the signing of Nigerian youngster Michael Olaitan on a four-year contract.

 

Olaitan, 20, joined the Greek champions from another Super League club Veria FC where he scored 14 goals in 62 matches for them.

 

He was nominated for young player of the year award after assisting the club gain promotion to the top flight at the end of the 2011/2012 campaign.

 

He attracted interest from other teams in Greece, France and Germany before pitching his tent with Super League champions Olympiakos.

 

Olympiacos is the most successful club in Greek football history, having won 40 League titles, 25 Greek Cups and 4 Greek Super Cups, more titles than any other Greek team and it is one of four teams that have never been relegated from the first division.

 

In European competitions, they have reached the quarter-finals twice, in the 1998/99 UEFA Champions League and the 1992/93 European Cup Winners’ Cup. Olympiacos is also one of the founding members of the European Club Association.
