It was also  the 10th goal of the season in all competitions for the former Wigan Athletic player who scored in both legs of the quarter-final clash against Russian side, Rubin Kazan, and repeated the same feat against the visitors from Switzerland.

The 22-year-old took to the social microblogging site, Twitter to express his happiness at helping Chelsea qualify for the showpiece game of the competition.

“Buzzing to be in Europa League final! Amazing night thanks so much for all the support,” he tweeted via @VictorMoses.

And for Moses, in a personal sense, a strong run in the Europa League could serve as the base for bigger things in the future.

Another Nigerian, John Mikel Obi, was not listed for the second leg encounter with Basle.

At the Estadio Da Luz stadium, Super Eagles defender Joseph Yobo played for 75 minutes for Fenerbahce as they  lost 3-1( 3-2 on aggregate) to Portuguese side Benfica in the second leg   of the second  semi-final of this year’s Europa League.
