Last Friday, on the sidelines of the last league match of League 2, Mana Dembele has been awarded the “Best Player of the Season” in Clermont. The Malian finished the season with 13 goals, top scorer in the club. He was particularly very crucial in the fight to maintain his team.

Dembele succeeded the French Romain Alessandrini and was ahead of his teammates Yacouba Sylla (transferred to Aston Villa this winter) and Yannis Salibur. He also follows several other African players who have won this award in the past. Among others, the Beninese Mickaël Poté (2009), and the Moroccan Mehdi Benatia (2010).
