Africa 2014 World Cup playoffs : Algeria in the third round thanks to Benin!

bougehrra-300x183Algeria can say thank you to Benin. The Desert Foxes will no longer play a final at home against Mali in September at the last day. The Squirrels have done the job by holding in check the Eagles 2-2 in Bamako.

Everything had started badly for Mali led from the eighth minute by Stephane Sessegnon. Mamadou Samassa restored parity from the penalty spot (15 ‘) but before the break Razack Omotoyossi gives the advantage to the Squirrels. 2-1 at the break.

After the break, the Malians relied on their providential striker Cheikh Diabate to pick up the score. Despite attacks on the Benin goal late in the game, the score remains unchanged. The Eagles are eliminated, as Benin and Rwanda.

Algeria had done the job earlier by winning the Amavubi in Kigali 1-0.
