Clarisse Agbegnenou had displayed an excellent shape by reaching the final of the World Judo in the category of less than 63 kg. The Franco-Togolese was surprise in the conquest for the gold medal by the Israeli Yarden Gerbi.

The French had lost in the final of less than 63kg and therefore must settle for silver. The 20 year old judoka and World No. 2 in his class, was powerless facing Yarden Gerbi, who obtruded on ippon (throttling) after only 43 seconds.
