The Ghana football Association has released a statement on the death of the father of Ghana and Chelsea midefielder, Michael Essien. Below is the statement signed by the Ghana FA president Kwesi Nyantakyi.
James, who played for Accra Hearts of Oak, had a particular passion for Ghana football and his death is a loss to Ghana football.
To Michael, your strength in these trying times is inspiring.
We know the loss of your father is not easy to deal with. But the way your are handling it and helping your family is truly amazing.
