After helping the Black Stars of Ghana to qualify to the quarter final of the 2010 World cup, Kevin Boateng took a break from the national team with the excuse that he want to concentrate on his club career in order to win the2011-12 UEFA champions league.

Kevin was out of the Stars camp for two years and now returns to the team at the eleventh hour of qualifying to the World cup but most Ghanaians keep asking if the Schalke striker is in for business or to  help the nation because he loves the country. Only the players know the benefit that come from playing on the World cup stage so some says kevin is only back because he want to play on the World cup stage but wether it is true or not, time will tell.

Kevin was very influencial in the 2010 World cup as he scored his first national team goal against United State of America. After the World cup, AC Milan made a bid to sign him from Serie A side Genoa because of his impressive performance in the world cup. After his return to the national team, he was called for the final world cup qualify group game against Zambia but watched the 90minutes from the bench due to injury.
