Bayern Munich proved in last night’s Champions League game against Manchester City that they were not crowned champions of Europe last season just by chance.

Through a superb performance of the German champions, Yaya Toure and co tilted after conceding an opener by Franck Ribery imitated by Thomas Müller and Arjen Robben.

City’s only consolation was the work of Alvaro Negredo.

The overwhelming feeling was that a City side that thrashed Manchester United just 10 days previously were taught a footballing lesson.
