Africa Ghana: Boateng Gyan ” We will be monitoring the game between Al Ahly and Orlando Pirates”

2ad8baba17e9fbaed5b728920db91abaresizedFIFA, in response to Ghana’s proposal to shift their World Cup Brazil 2014 playoffs’ second leg tie against Egypt from Cairo to a neutral venue, orded the game to be played in Cairo as schelduled.

And as you might imagine, Ghanaians as well as The former GFA chairman and ex-FIFA instructor Ben Koufie are not happy at all with the decison.

The governing body said its decision was based on guarantees received from the government of Egypt and CAF’s decision to allow Al Ahly to play their Champions League match in Cairo.

For the Black Stars management committee member Yaw Boateng Gyan, monitoring the CAF Champions League final between Al Ahly and Orlando Pirates which will also be played in Cairo days before the Black Stars face the Pharaohs will help Ghana’s course.

“We will be monitoring the game between Al Ahly and Orlando Pirates to see whether we can draw some conclusions about the situation in Cairo ahead of our game,” he told Metro FM.

“I understand clubs playing against each other is not the same as national team battles but at least it will give us a fair idea of the situation at hand.”
