Despite a more experienced team, Gabon have suffered their entry into the African Nations Championship. Opposed Tuesday to Burundi (0-0), the Panthers were powerless, conceding a draw not very promising for the rest of the competition.

Winner of CEMAC, Gabon had a favorite costume facing a team that was playing for the first time the CHAN. But after many missed opportunities including that of captain Daniel Cousin, the Panthers had to share the points. Worse, they might be surprised by some very nasty Burundians.

In the other group match, DR Congo dominated Mauritania 1-0 and took the head of Group D. Next fixtures will be the highly anticipated Gabon – Congo and Burundi – Mauritania.
