Africa FIFA rankings: Côte d’Ivoire dethroned, Algeria new king of Africa

AlgeriaCôte d’Ivoire is no longer leader on the African continent in the FIFA rankings of national teams released Thursday. The Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire have lost their place in favor of Algeria.

The Desert Foxes have won 3 seats and are found in the first spot on the continent and globally 22nd while Ivorians lost two seats and occupy the second African and 23rd place with the same number of points as Denmark. Egypt, Ghana and Cape Verde respectively close the top 5.

Nigeria and Cameroon who will compete in the World 2014 respectively rank 6th (44th worldwide) and 10th (56th worldwide).

Note that no African country is in the top 20.
