Sabri Lamouchi announced his resignation as coach of Ivory Coast on Tuesday following the first-round elimination of the Elephants at the World Cup Brazil 2014. This is a consequence of the defeat (1-2) against Greece in the last group match of the competition.
“My contract ended at the World Cup and there will be no sequel, you understand why. It makes sense as we have succeeded neither at the African Cup nor at the World Cup,” said Lamouchi at the press conference.
A draw was enough to Didier Drogba and his teammates for a historic qualification to the second round after failures in 2006 and 2010 at the same stage of World Cup.
