AFCON CAMEROON 2021 Afcon 2013: “Black Stars need cohesion” – Dogo Moro

During an interview on Citifm, Accra – Ghana, Two-time winner of the African Nations Cup, Dogo Moro, has expressed the need for the current Black Stars team to have a lot of cohesion if it will succeed in winning the 2013 AFCON in South Africa.

Dogo Moro, who won the tournament in 1963 and 1965 with the Black Stars, says Ghana’s long wait for a fifth African Nations Cup title is down to a lack of cohesion in the various teams over the years.

He said, “In our day, we played together for more than 5 or so years but when you look at the current crop, some of these players have never played for the Black Stars before.

When we won the African Cup in 1963, players such as Dodoo Ankrah, Addo Odametey, Ben Acheampong, Aggrey Fynn, Ofei Dodoo, C.K Gyamfi and Wilberforce Nfum, had all played in the team for over 5 years”.

He went on to explain that, aside cohesion, playing together will help the team to mature in order to compete at the African Nations Cup which is a very demanding competition both physically and mentally.

Ghana is in Group B with DR Congo, Mali and Niger of the 2013 AFCON which kicks off on Saturday 19th January.
