AFCON CAMEROON 2021 Afcon 2013: Annan and Boakye-Yiadom are out of DR Congo match

Richmond Boakye Yiadom striker for Black Stars and midfielder Anthony Annan will not play any part in Ghana’s opening 2013 African Cup of Nations clash against DR Congo on today Sunday.

According to sources in South Africa, both players are resting by the technical team as they are recovering from various injuries.

Annan got an ankle injury during Ghana’s 3-0 friendly win over Egypt whilst Boakye-Yiadom sprained his right ankle during a training session in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday.

Boakye-Yiadom has thus not been involved in ball work since the team arrived in South Africa. He has only been involved in jogging sessions.

Annan is closing in on full fitness but the technical team has taken a decision to get both him and Boakye Yiadom fully fit for Ghana’s second match against Mali on Thursday.
