AFCON CAMEROON 2021 Afcon 2013: Zambia vs. Nigeria clash of the Titans

Coach Herve Renard of Zambia (Chipolopolo) says, “the mood in camp is good and everyone is looking forward to a good match against Nigeria today (Friday)”.

Zambia’s team is comprised of the same players who appeared in Angola three years ago when the two sides came face to face at the quarter-final stage. The Zambian team (Chipolopolo) has not lost in regulation time at the Africa Cup of Nations since they lost 3-2 to Cameroon in a second round Group C fixture on 17th January, 2010.

The Chipolopolo were undefeated when they emerged champions at the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations where Nigeria were absent after they failed to qualify.

Zambia and Nigeria have met 16 times in competitive matches with each team recording five wins, five losses and six draws with the former edging the latter on goals scored at 18-12.

25th January 2010 was the last time Zambia and Nigeria played each other at the Africa Cup of Nations when the former Champions got eliminated 5-4 on post-match penalties at Estadio de la Chela in Lubango.

Zambia had a draw in their opening match 1-1 against Ethiopia while Nigeria was held by Burkina Faso the same scorelines.
