Africa Biography : Kennedy Mweene Zambia goalkeeper

Kennedy was born on 11th December, 1984; he is Zambian footballer who plays for South Africa Premier Soccer League club Free State Stars as a goalkeeper. He is the current captain of his club and has been on many occasions captain of his country.

Club Career:

Mweene is one of the best goalkeepers in the South African PSL, winning the PSL Goalkeeper of the Season award in the 2008-09 seasons. The player has been in big demand with all of the big spending clubs in South Africa but has remained loyal to his club Free State Stars. He is currently contracted until 30 June 2014. The player is represented by his business manager Ryan Hartslief of Bigtime Sports management in South Africa.

International Career:

He has been the first-choice goalkeeper for Zambia since making his debut in 2004 and was a participant at the (2006, 2008, 2010and2012,) Africa Cup of Nations. On 12 February, 2012, Mweene kept a clean sheet during the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations Final and saved one penalty kick (as well as successfully converted his own) in the shootout to decide the game, which was eventually won by Zambia. He was chosen as the goalkeeper of the tournament. During the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations Mweene stepped up to take a penalty and converted from the spot to get his first international goal for Zambia.
