AFCON CAMEROON 2021 Afcon 2013 : First half of the match – Burkina Faso vs Zambia (0-0)

Defending champions Zambia must beat Burkina Faso to ensure they make it through to the Africa Cup of Nations quarter-finals, while their opponents need only a draw to go through.

Burkina Faso will again be without first-choice keeper Abdoulaye Soulama, who completes his two-game ban.

The Burkinabes hope top scorer Alain Traore continues his excellent form.
The midfielder has scored three goals so far, including two in the handsome 4-0 win against Ethiopia.
Zambia have never been beaten by their opponents in previous Africa Cup of Nations meetings, winning twice against the Burkinabes and drawing the other.
Algeria were the last title-holders to go out in the first round when, after winning the title in 1990, they picked up just one point in two matches two years later in Senegal.
Zambia coach Herve Renard:
“It’s the final group game against Burkina Faso, so we will soon see what happens next.
“We have our chance and destiny in our own hands. I think we are still capable of qualifying to the quarter-finals.”

Zambia goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene:
“We still have hope. We’ll work hard in training, we can’t give up. We have to fight, we are the champions after all.
“It won’t be easy, but we can still qualify for the quarter-finals.”

Burkina Faso coach Paul Put:
“Our first aim arriving here was to do better than in previous Nations Cups. We’ve already achieved that. That has helped free the players’ minds, it was good for our confidence.
“But we still have to qualify so we are keeping our feet on the ground.
“We need a point against Zambia tomorrow. It won’t be easy against the champions, but we will play with our hearts. There is more pressure on Zambia than us.
“It won’t be an easy game but the players have a chance to write history.”
