According to the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) acting from the orders given by the National Sports Commission (NSC), the merit is to motivate the players to victory at the 2013 Afcon in South Africa.
However, each member of the team would be given a $30, 000 for making it to the quarter-finals. The footballers are to receive $5, 000 for a draw 
and $10, 000 for a win each as supposed to be but will receive full bonuses for the earlier draws recorded against Zambia and Burkina Faso.
