AFCON CAMEROON 2021 Afcon 2013:Wakaso, Man of the 1st match-Ghana 2-0 Cape Verde

Ghana beginning to find some rhythm after a slow opening 10 minutes or so. Beginning to string a number of passes together, with Atus particularly impressive.

Ah I spoke too soon. Cape Verde come away with the ball and repels the Ghanaian attacking threat.

Good play by Atsu as he attempts to play in Afful. The ball, unintentionally, rolls out for a Cape Verde goal kick.

Tavares puts in a teasing cross along the floor, but Dauda does well to claim. For Cape Verde, meanwhile, Nando is down. The Blue Sharks could do with him not going off.

Vorsah hesitates on the ball in his own box, clearly waiting for Dauda to claim. Ryan gives the Ghana defender a push in the back and concedes a free kick. A real let off for the Ghanians there.

And we have a penalty here. Gyan is brought down the box by Carlitos. Wakaso

Substitute Mubarak smashes his effort straight down the middle to hand Ghana the initiative.

The Blue Sharks appear to realise a place in the semi final is at stake and win a free kick. Tavares is picked out in the 18 yard box by Platini, but his header across goal is cleared.

Heldon is picked out on the left and he cuts back for Babanco. His miscues his effort and Ghana clear. Moments later Platini forces a save from Duada as the game finally springs into life.

Another GOAL!!!! From Wakaso. Into the final minutes and Badu see’s a close range effort cleared expertly for a corner. More time to waste for Ghana.

And that is Ghana into the semi final with that strike.
