AFCON CAMEROON 2021 Afcon 2013 : Trabelsi quits, three candidates for the post

Coach Sami Trabelsi has resigned from his role as Tunisia coach after his side’s dismal performance in the Africa Cup of Nations.

Despite defeating Algeria 1-0 in their first match, Tunisia could not progress out of Group D and finished third with a loss to group winners Ivory Coast and a draw against Togo sealing their fate.

The Tunisian Football Federation said it had accepted a request from the 45-year-old manager to terminate his contract and announced three candidates had been identified as potential successors.

Nabil Maaloul, Khaled Ben Yahia and Maher Kenzari will be interviewed over the coming days with a decision to come soon after.

Trabelsi is the first coaching casualty of this year’s Nations Cup finals.
