Herve Renard Africa Cup of Nations 2013 – CAF disciplines Zambian coach over ‘offensive’ comments. African soccer’s governing body, CAF, has slammed on Zambia’s flamboyant coach Herve Renard a suspended fine of US$10,000 and a warning, after he made comments which the body deemed offensive.

‘The (CAF) organising committee accepted the apology of the coach. However, in order to ensure the non-repetition of such behavior which tarnishes the image of CAF and its officials, the Committee decided to issue M. Renard a warning and impose a suspended fine of 10.000 US dollars upon him, provided no repetition of such behavior occur within the coming year,’ CAF statement obtained by PANA here Friday said.

Renard was dragged to the 2013 Nations Cup organising committee after he said in a newspaper interview, following Zambia’s elimination from the 2013 tournament, that CAF does not want Zambia to play in the Confederation Cup hence it was happy that the Nations Cup defending champion was eliminated.
