According to preliminary information gathered, the prosecution requested a reclassification of the offense “premeditated murder.”

The South African Paralympian Oscar Pistorius broke into tears Friday in the courtroom of the court in Pretoria that formally charged him with the murder of his girlfriend.

Dressed in a black suit on a blue shirt, Oscar Pistorius became collapsed, crying, covering her face and staring at the ground while the indictment in charge was read to him.

In this highly publicized case, the South African justice appointed a customary large trial magistrate, Desmond Nair. Oscar Pistorius has not looked when he was welcomed.

The athlete, whose tenacity and willingness at all costs forced the admiration of millions of fans around the world, has long continued to sob in front of a packed audience.

The next hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, February 20, 2013 “Time for the defense to investigate and be in a better position to advocate,” according to Judge Desmond Nair.
