Cycling Cycling: Victory at the Tour of Oman by Chris Froome

Froome finishes ahead of Alberto Contador. Team Sky cyclist finished in leading bunch to secure win

Team Sky’s Chris Froome wrapped up victory at the Tour of Oman ahead of Alberto Contador on Saturday.

The Great Britain Olympian, second in last summer’s Tour de France, held a 27-second lead going into Saturday’s final stage and finished in the leading bunch in a sprint finish to make sure of the red jersey.

Froome had sprung to the head of the field with victory on stage five yesterday, following consistent displays throughout the week up to that point.

Francais Des Jeux rider Nacer Bouhanni won today’s 144km stage from Hawit Nagam Park to Matrah Corniche, with Orica GreenEDGE’s Matthew Goss second and the American Taylor Phinney third for BMC Racing.
