Caribbean Cycling/Grégory Baugé : “We lost our last technician”

Double silver medalist in speed, individual and team at the London Games, the pistard Grégory Baugé has no coach.

Florian Rousseau is no longer in charge of the French sprint: he chose to leave his post.

Baugé’ coach has wanted to sound the alarm to denounce the prevailing inertia according to him from the London Olympics.
The French Caribbean cyclist from Guadeloupe has reacted strongly to this surprise announcement of his coach and expressed his displeasure vis-à-vis the French Cycling Federation:
“I find it hard to accept but I understand when I read his words. We know very well that things are not going on. This is not because I am world champion that all is well. After the Olympics, I said that I had lost to the system.”

“I’ve always said that it is not because I had the best coach in the world that it would necessarily always do. There is no project. You do not feel the presence.”

“It was already a crisis! Here we lost our last technician. We are left with his assistant but it’s hard for everyone and those who seek the Olympics in Rio in 2016. The future is dark. We wanted to reverse after London,”

“We will ask all these questions, the young, the same. It’s fine to say that track will be built soon in Saint-Quentin “

“We all want to see that leaders are concerned, they should come to see us for example at Insep in training. Simple things.”

“The future is dark but we will discuss among runners. Train two-three weeks alone, okay. But after that, if there is not a group … And it must be motivated group. We will see the state of mind of each. There will be a decision to be taken quickly enough, you can not do high-level sport half.”

Grégory Baugé has decided to waive the World which will be held in Minsk (belarus) February 20 to 24.

The seven-time world champion prefers to focus on a single goal: win the last Olympic gold in 2016 in Rio de Janeiro.
