Africa South Africa/PSL: Spectators behaviour led to suspension of appeal

PSL Head of Legal issues Ntsietso Mofokeng has said that the determination affects the cornerstone of liability of clubs for their supporters’ misbehaviour and would not want to pre-judges the appeal made by the pirates.

It has however been announced that cases involving spectators misbehaviour have been suspended pending an outcome of an appeal made by Orlando Pirates to the Safa appeals board.

This however refers to the case involving Pirates – two vying on behalf of the club and other pending DC cases.

The PSL DC panel said: “It is only proper that until the Appeal Board (of Safa) decides on whether have been giving a proper interpretation to this rule or not, then all other matters that are pending the DC, will thereafter start giving the interpretation as pronounced by the Appeals Board.”

The board has however claimed to have found the Pirates guilty with reference to their appeal paper and the Pirates however challenged the interpretation of Rule 53.2.3 and Rules 53.3.4 of the National Soccer League (NSL) that they are responsible for the spectator’s misconduct.
