Egypt Modern Pentathlon : An encouraging start for Egypt

Egypt was present at the first part of the competition.

The pharaohs were well defended by making some good performances. 4 men (Hefny Yasser,  Amr Al-Guézeiri, Omar al- Guézeiri  and Eslam Hamed) representing Egypt reaped satisfactory results.

Both athletes performed well while the other two were disappointing. Omar Al-Guézeiri and Yasser Hefni failed to qualify for the final of the competition.

These two athletes who used to play the final of each competition have failed to qualify.
Al-Sharif Eriane, president of the Egyptian Federation of Modern Pentathlon takes stock:

“Two Egyptians have qualified for the final of the competition such as Amr al- Guézeiri  and Eslam Hammad. I am very satisfied with the performance especially since this is the first competition of the season and the first since the election of the new Board of Directors of the Federation. “

“The weak point of Al Guézeiri is shot. He missed the medal because of his poor performance in the combined event which includes shooting and running. Therefore, we will work with him on shooting event that requires great concentration and experience. “

“I am very happy with the performance of Hammad. The young man who played his first World Cup surprised us with his result. “

“Please note that Hammad has started practicing test riding 2 years ago. Therefore, he needs a little time to gain experience. We will pay more attention to youth in the coming period. And as for Hammad, he will continue to play in senior selection while preparing for the Junior World Championships to be held next August in Hungary, which is the most important competition for him this season. “

“This is the first time that these two athletes did not qualify for the final, but for an early season performance is not especially poor as preparation for this stage of the World Cup was not perfect. This is the first time that the Egyptians did not make the qualifying period in Colorado Springs just before the competition. This has undoubtedly affected the level of athletes. “

“Our goal at this stage of the World Cup was not a medal, but to collect points for the classification of the World Cup that allows the first 36 athletes to qualify for the final of the World Cup to be held in Nizhny Novgorod (Russia) from 31 May to 2 June. These athletes must compete in the final of the next stage of the World Cup to be held from March 20 to 24 in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil). “
