Caribbean WTA Florianopolis / 2nd round: Venus in tiebreak

Unlike his opening match, Venus Williams was pushed to her limits by Garbine Muguruza.

The seeded No. 1 of the WTA tournament in Florianopolis has struggled in three sets to reach the quarterfinals of the Brazilian tournament against the World 96th.

After winning the first set 6/4, the American undergoes the young Spanish (19) in the second set 2/6. The third round will play the decisive game. Venus converted his fourth match point and won, 6/4, 2/6, 7/5, 2 sets to 1 in 2 hours 12 minutes.

In the quarter-finals, Venus Williams will face Slovakia’s Magdalena Rybarikova, seeded No. 5.
