Africa Ghana: “I want to coach the Black Stars” – Desailly

Desailly who after the 2013 Africa Cup of nations praised Coach Kwesi Appiah for a job well dones seems to be seeking a place in the management of the Black Stars football team of Ghana.

The former France captain who is Ghanaian by birth, has aired his view about his ambition to cokach the Black Stars in the future if given the opportunity.

He however revealed this in a football programme whiles speaking to CNN’s Pedro Pinto, CNNFC where he explained.

“At that time, I was already living in France and the prevailing rule was that only three foreign players could play club football and choosing to play for Ghana would not have opened the way for me to the career that I have had in football. Naturally, I played for France and I succeeded with them.”

The former France captain however explained why he played for France and has an interest in coaching Ghana’s national football team. Marcel Desailly was part of the team that won the 1998 World Cup, the European Championship in 200 and 2001 Confederation Cup.

The player who has a sporting complex in Ghana (Lizy’s Sports Complex)? Accra was on the list of coaches considered for the post before Goran Stevenovic was appointed in January 2011 and also prior to the appointment to coach Kwesi Appiah who led the Black Stars to the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa.
