athletics Athletics / European Indoor Championships: The Guadeloupe Lesueur wins silver

Eloyse Lesueur took silver in the long jump at the European Indoor Championships in Gothenburg. The Guadeloupian broke three times the record of France in the final with a jump of 6.90 m in 5 tests.

The Caribbean of 24 years has improved in six centimeters her previous mark established in January 2008 in Gainesville, United States (6.84 m).

“After the first test, one had to let go and take risks,” commented Eloyse Lesueur. The native of Saint-Denis failed twice, including once for only a few millimeters. Then the European Summer Champion got over. And she makes 6.87 m and 6.90 m, two new national references.

“I knew I make long and nice jumps”, continued Lesueur.

“I had optimal preparation. So I’m not surprised. I am also lucky for not having physical problems this winter. “
The title went to the Russian Darya Klishina (7.01 m) and the bronze medal to the Swedish Erica Jarder (6.71 m)
