Africa Uganda: Foreign-based players, the choice for Bobby

Liberia would face Uganda in the 2014 World Cup qualifiers on 24th March in Liberia. Bobby Williamson the coach of the Cranes of Uganda seems not to have enough time to commence training with a full squad with just five days to the match as he revealed.

The coach’s comments raise concern as the team needs to win to keep them looking ahead in the World Cup as they lie second in Group J with two points behind Senegal.

“I always tell people that we can only get all the players we need five days to the match day,” said Bobby.

“Therefore, it is only logical to summon players five days to the match.”

The coach went on to say that he has however planned and summoned home-based players to the 30 – man squad and will only make the list available on the arrival of foreign contingents.

This will seem to create very little room for home based players as the Cranes have squeeze through to make it in Monrovia.

Two foreign – based (Tony Mawejje and Geoffrey Kizito)  players have made themselves available so far.
