Africa Algeria : Belloumi happy to be there!

Nominated coach of the second national team of Algeria, the former playmaker of the Greens, Lakhdar Belloumi is honored to part of the new coaching staff.

“I am much honored to have been selected for this coaching staff. After defending the national colors when I was a player, I will now continue it on the bench, and I will try to complete my mission “

The decision on the appointment of the new coach of the selection was made on Friday at the meeting of the federal office in Oran.

“Together, we will work closely together in order to achieve the goal that has been assigned, namely, that of qualifying Algeria for the next African Championship CHAN 2014 in South Africa”

Belloumi will be assisted in his task by Rachid Cherradi appointed as his assistant.

Algeria will face Libya for the next CHAN in a first leg match scheduled in Algiers on June 21. And two weeks later, the two teams will meet to compete in the second leg.

“It is a double confrontation that will hotly be played. We must ensure a good result at home to be able to tackle the return leg with confidence. Libyans will certainly seek revenge after having had their senior national team removed the A by Algeria to the Afcon 2013, “said Belloumi.

Belloumi (54 years) got his coaching qualifications in Germany. He began his career on the sidelines of MC Oran for few months before being appointed General Manager at USM Bel-Abbes.

In 2003, he was hired by the Qatari club Al-Tadamon currently Umm-Salal SC in second division, but there was only a short month while the club was in second position. In 2004, he was called by Ali Fergani to assist him at the head of the national team.
