Africa Nigeria : Former midfielder Moses Kpakor proud of the Eaglets

More praises for the Nigerian cadet football team. The Golden Eaglets second place finish at the just concluded Caf under-17 Championship held in Morocco has continued to generate comments among the Nigerian football fraternity.

Former Nigeria midfielder, Moses Kpakor, has lent his voice to those clamouring for the squad to be retained and beefed up for the World Cup proper.

The former BCC Lions skipper was full of praise for the layers and the technical crew and wants the NFF to give the team all the support they need as they prepare to hit the UAE for the Fifa Under-17 World Championship.

“I think the boys did pretty well, it’s unfortunate they lost to the Ivory Coast in the final, but I must say I’m quite impressed with the team,” he exclusively revealed to supersport.com.

“Let’s not lose the plot, these championships are for developmental purposes, It’s good to win, but the progress of the lads is more important.”

The Former Lobi Stars coach, who was also an assistant coach of the Golden Eaglets in the 2003 set up, also congratulated the coaching crew and urged them to keep faith with the lads and not disrupt the team spirit with wholesome changes.

“This team will come good at the World Cup, the experience they have garnered at the African championship will put them in a good stead at the World Cup, I believe in them,” Kpakor said.

“I hope the NFF will not tamper with the squad, they have been together for a while and I hope they will be reinforced and well motivated for the bigger stage.”

Nigeria lost the final of the Caf Under-17 Championship to the Ivory Coast on penalties after the game ended 1-1 in regulation time.

Ivory Coast scored all their kicks while Chidiebere Nwakali missed his to hand the trophy to the young Elephants.
