Africa UK : Sierra Leone striker Kei Kamara returns to Sporting

Norwich City have confirmed that Sierra Leone striker Kei Kamara has returned to Sporting Kansas City after his loan spell with the club ended.

The 28-year-old Sierra Leone international signed on loan with Norwich in January and has netted just once in his eleven outings for the club.

Robb Heineman, CEO of Sporting Club said that the Canaries had declined the option to extend Kamara’s stay.

Kamara took to Twitter to thank the club and supporters tweeting: “I want to thank the Norwich City organisation for everything they did for me. Not everyone gets to live their dreams, but they gave me mine. Also thank you to all the fans in the UK especially in Norwich, Norfolk for welcoming me with warm arms. Top class people/fans. Will always have a place in my heart for Norwich. #HeartShapedHands to all u guys & I wish the boys best of luck in next 2 weeks. God bless.”

Kamara, who was Sporting’s leading scorer from 2010/12 with 30 total goals, will be available for selection when Kansas City host Seattle Sounders on Wednesday in a rematch of last year’s US Open Cup final.

Norwich boss Chris Hughton has publicly spoken about his interest in signing the player permanently and Sporting Kansas have confirmed that Kamara has been the subject of many enquiries following his brief English sojourn.

The Norfolk club are yet to secure their place in the top-flight for next season, and sit just three points above Wigan in 18th, who have a game in hand to play.
