Africa UK : Nigerian international Odemwingie agrees Albion exit

Super Eagles striker Peter Odemwingie has agreed to depart from West Bromwich Albion in the summer after talks commenced between the club and the PFA, according to the Birmingham Mail.

Nigerian international Peter Odemwingie is ready to end his West Bromwich Albion nightmare this summer after the latest controversy in his troubled season. He forward clashed with fans during the home defeat to Wigan Athletic after being abused in front of his wife and three-month old son, Noah.

Odemwingie was also roundly booed as he warmed up on the touchline and the reaction was so hostile that head coach Steve Clarke admitted he abandoned his plan to introduce him as a substitute.

Albion do not seem dismayed by this decision and are ready to offload so long as a suitable agreement can be struck with the Nigerian still having 12 months to run on his contract, according to the newspaper.

It seems the once very tense situation concerning Odemwingie and the club has been somewhat defused in recent weeks and months as a large sums of the fines once given to him have been rescinded.

Odemwingie is also unhappy after alleging it took Chiles until Friday to apologise by telephone after the ITV presenter branded him “t – t of the year” at the club’s official awards ceremony a week last Sunday.

The 31 year-old has never been forgiven for his highly-publicised attempts to force through a move to Queens Park Rangers in January and a parting of the ways is inevitable at the end of the season.
