Africa Nigeria : Coach Stephen Keshi will pay his assistant

According to completesports.com, Super Eagles Chief Coach, Stephen Keshi has volunteered to re-engage Valerie Houdenmou, one of his sacked assistant coaches by personally paying his monthly salary.

Valerie, who also worked with Keshi to qualify Togo to the 2006 World Cup, was laid off by a “broke” Nigeria Football Federation recently. “Keshi has decided to shoulder the burden of paying Valere’s salary after the NFF said it was running low on funds to carry the huge wage bill of the Super Eagles,” Keshi’s brother and manager Emmanuel Keshi told MTNFootball.com.

Special Assistant to Keshi, Mr. Emmanuel Ado who disclosed this stated that the Super Eagles Head coach decided to re- engage the Togo-born tactician following the downsizing exercise of backroom staff  of the senior national team by the Nigeria Football Federation which affected the two coaches.

“Keshi understands the financial position of the NFF and has decided to pick the monthly bills of coach Valerie because he is a vital member of the coaching crew and Keshi requires his services. The lack of  fund in NFF is really very pathetic and he has chosen to offset the bills of coach Valerie pending when finances improve at the federation. The relationship between Keshi and Valerie has come a long way and it is only natural that you allow the friendship to flourish” he stated.

What is not known however, is whether he federation will pay the allowances and match bonus of coach Valerie since Keshi would be paying only his salary.
