athletics Athletics: Kenya’s Vivian Cheruiyot package for the World

Vivian Cheruiyot will not be in Moscow from 10 to August 18 to participate in the World Championships.

The Kenyan world defending champion in the 5 000m and 10 000m thus cannot defend her titles acquired handily in 2011 in Daegu (South Korea). The Kenyan athlete announced her package for the World games because she is expecting her first child.
“I am very happy to announce that I will get far from athletics tracks, because I’m pregnant with my first child. I run for several years in high level and I think it is time to start my family, “she said in a statement.
“I will not be in Moscow, but I’ll be back in 2014 and the 2015 World Championships in Beijing,” she said.
“I’ve talked to some colleagues who had children for advice back in training,” she said, adding that her goal remains to win the “Olympic gold“.
Aged 29, the native of Logosho could end her career high in the 2016 Rio Olympics. This will be the last chance for her to win the Olympic gold that lacks in her record. In 2012 in London, she had merely a silver medal in 5000 m and bronze in 10,000 m.
