Africa Mike Umeh: Vice-president of the Nigeria football federation arrested for money laundering!

It is the BBC that revealed the information. The anti-corruption agency in Nigeria on Monday arrested Mike Umeh, accused of money laundering. The Committee on Economic and Financial Crimes said that the vice president of the football federation was an accomplice in an operation to hijack millions of dollars. A case that also involves a governor of a state in Nigeria.

“Mike Umeh is complicit in money laundering and embezzlement of public funds to the tune of 15 billion naira (about $ 94.8 million) money,” said the spokesman of the Commission to the BBC. This embarrasses much the NFF (Nigeria Football Federation) which does not want to make any comment. “The mentioned problem has nothing to do with the Nigerian Football Federation,” said Ademola Olajire, the NFF spokesman, mentioning that the instance is following the situation closely.
