Africa Quote of the Day: Florent Malouda “It’s good to be a free man”

Present in Accra to support Michael Essien, Florent Malouda from Guyana. Very smiling, he responded to numerous requests from journalists and fans, after meeting the President of the Republic of Ghana on Saturday morning. The Chelsea midfielder was placed by his club on the list of players free of any contract.

Malouda, 32 years, has not played for Chelsea since the Londoners victory in the final of the Champions League against Bayern Munich in May 2012, after being sidelined by the different successive coaches of the Blues, Roberto Di Matteo and Rafael Benitez.

The French international has spent the past year training with the under 21 team of the club.

In an interview at his hotel after a few sentences spoken in Creole, Florent Malouda has shared with us his views on “the lay-offs”: “For the moment, I’m not worried. I do not consider myself as a former Blues seeking for job. I am at a little special time in my life when we ask questions, we think. And I seize those moments for me also to invest in shares of charity. It is good on that side to be a free man. “
