After a passage in Switzerland, Gennaro Gattuso (35 years) is back in the Italian championship. The former midfielder of AC Milan on is named this Wednesday coach of Palermo (relegated to Serie B).

The 2006 world champion with the Squadra signed a one-year contract with two option years, the club said on its website.

Winner of the Champions League with the Rossoneri Gattuso’s mission is to make Palermo reach back in Serie A.

The former Italian international was dismissed in May from  FC Sion where he was player-coach.

The new coach of Palermo will be presented on Friday.
