Algeria has performed well in the second edition of the African youth Judo Championships (girls and boys) held this Wednesday in Alger.

Algerian athletes have gleaned a total of 17 medals, including nine gold.

We retain the victory of the younger Mercem Hajer (44 kg), who won the first African title by beating the South African Geronay Whitebooi by decision of the judges of the competition. Sadjia Amran (-48kg) has on his side retained his title.

“We hired 10 athletes in the competition for a record of five gold medals, four silver and one bronze. I think the result is encouraging and satisfying because all of our athletes won medals, “said Algerian Cadet Coach Youcef Oukil to APS.

The same feeling of satisfaction was expressed by the Director of young talent in the Algerian federation of judoka Wafia Djindi: “The judokas incurred in the African cadets championship performed well especially girls who won four gold medals, three silver and one bronze. “
